This assignment helped me further define what I’m going to do during this quarantine and how I’m going to do it
One of my solutions that I came up with during my brainstorm session was getting healthy by working out and eating better. On campus, it’s really difficult for me to establish any kind of routine for working out and making the right choices at the Bison. At home and my newfound free time, I’m deciding to make a physical weekly workout and meal plans on paper so I have a structure in place to keep myself focused and make a routine. This is aimed at the proficiency level of the Design Hierarchy of Needs because trying to get healthier is something I’ve attempted before, but I’ve never made an a physical, thought-out plan to achieve my health goals. This solution also taps into creativity because I plan to spice things up in my meals and workouts to keep things interesting for me and hopefully change my perception on what it means to get healthy.
My other solution that I came up with is staying connected to friends and family during this time. Of course I want to stay in touch with friends through zoom, and various social media outlets such as instagram, facebook, snapchat, and twitter, but I also want to find games in the App Store that allow for people to connect and play together from afar. This can be Words with Friends, Photo Roulette, or other games (I’m going to have to do some research) but I think it can be more fun to stay connected this way. Assuming that you have good wifi connection and friends who are willing to play these games/zoom/social media with you, this concept taps into all levels of the Design Hierarchy of Needs pretty much. These apps all function, they are reliable, easy to use, improve our efforts to communicate with one another, and is a creative solution to staying connected that can improve our experiences with friends.
My last concept is being productive, and the way I’m going to do that is to create a quiet space in my house for me to focus. Outlined in my sketch is what is going to be in my quiet space and what it requires. In the past at home, I’ve always done homework in the kitchen or around others, but I am finding that it isn’t working for me anymore and is hindering my productivity. I am going to put this space in my room, which is more secluded in my house, and hopefully this quiet space will help me focus and keep me more productive when it comes to my school work. This relates to proficiency because it is an improvement from what I was doing before when it came to studying at home.
