When looking at the COVID-19 history it all started in about late December when the virus was unknown at the time, but there were dozens of cases of pneumonia coming out of Wuhan, China. Within a week the outbreak was identified as COVID-19 and on January 11th there was the first reported death from the virus. Within the next two weeks the virus spread to countries like Thailand and the US. It was at this point where things began to go downhill.
The response of the virus has been different all across the world given this is a pandemic that we didn’t see coming and weren’t prepared for. Making the constraint map was difficult at first because there are so many aspects of life that have been affected by the virus. Highlighting some of the ones that have affected me personally was a start, and from there I wanted to get more detailed.
One thing that I noticed when looking at the constraints of the virus was that the impact is seen in so many different ways given the perception of the virus. In the last decade we’ve seen the Swine Flu, Ebola and Zika virus emerge and cause terrible results to demographics across the world However, with COVID-19 it seems to have put most of the world on pause as so many components of social life, entertainment and work have been shut down.
One beneficial outcome of the pandemic however is the creative unity being seen across so many platforms. On Instagram people have created workout challenges where you’d tag a friend and they’d have to do the same. In addition, we’ve seen an increase in the use of live streaming where people can connect and communicate with others. Musicians have used that platform to hosts Q and A’s as well as concerts. It’s cool to see that even in the midst of everything, people are finding ways to still stay connected and spread positivity through platforms.
