Self-care is something that I really want to strive for while in quarantine. Due to the fast pace of college life, it’s hard to really take time for yourself. Now that I have plenty of time on my hands this is something that I can finally work on. I can visualize this concept by hitting all five sections of the pyramid. First for self-care you need to start with the basics, like simple workouts, eat healthier and get more sleep. The next step is to continue this trend to make it a habit. Once you get the hang of it you can better yourself and the basic things you started with by being more creative about their approach. For example with exercising, you can try new workout plans and/or longer repetitions. Now that I’m in the second week practicing this concept I can already tell I am more relaxed and happy.
With productivity. I can really only see this concept going up to the fourth level of the hierarchy. First, you want to settle yourself and get comfortable with a plan, then you want to make a habit to ensure your productivity lasts. The more you practice productivity the more you can tweak it to become more efficient. For me, I really want to stay on top of things since we are now in remote learning. In order to make sure I do things in a productive manner, I have made a calendar with a schedule from start to finish so I can keep track of assignments. My day consists of waking up around 10, getting breakfast, going for a run, lunch, then school work, dinner, and finally a family activity to end then night. This concept has already been changing my work ethic, I’m curious to see how it will progress in the weeks to come. I hope that somehow I can find innovation within the pursuing weeks while practicing productivity.
For my third concept, I really wanted to focus on building a better relationship with my family. Over the past couple of years, everyone seemed to distance themselves with other obligations, leaving little time for family bonding. Now that we are all stuck together we have to relearn how to live with each other and be creative with ways to make us get along. This concept will definitely have to use all five layers in order to ensure that we don’t want to kill each other by the end of the month (this is just facetious). So far my family has been doing an activity every night after dinner, in order to spice things up, we rotate who gets to pick the activity. So far we have played a lot of card games, seen a lot of movies, etc… I know that we will get tired of those games soon so we will have to be more creative to keep everyone entertained.
