When making this concept board I wanted to focus on conveying a serene, peaceful mood through the collection of images. I first focused on a color pallet that reads calm and serene to me, so I chose pastels and earth tones. I wanted to first make sure I was conveying this overall feeling because that is how I see myself being able to stay calm during an ambiguous and ongoing situation. I believe the only way to stay level headed and focused is to first make sure you are grounded. For me, this means remaining as calm as possible.
From the color pallet, I then focused on three categories, elements of staying comfortable/calm, keeping informed, and being productive. The comfortable calmness comes once again from the colors, but also how I keep my environment at home. This can be a comfortable place to unwind, seeing art, or “happy” smells. Keeping informed is not only reflected in the news image, but also keeping in touch with all of my friends and family that I am not able to see. Finally, being productive to me is keeping a daily routine. For me this looks like keeping a to do list, making office hours with professors, and keeping up with emails from school.
Throughout this board I wanted to keep in mind that there is no such thing as “normal”. Normal to one person can mean something completely different to another. This entire situation is just finding a new normal. With this in mind, I included the phrase “your limitation-its only imagination”. I want to remember that limiting myself to certain activities because it’s not “normal” for me is blocking my own imagination.
