Concept Board March 26, 2020 by Erin Mooney Leave a Comment For my concept board I wanted to focus on mental health and the positive aspects of isolation and turning self-quarantine into a good thing. I made the center of my concept board, “take time for yourself,” because it is rare that we are legitimately forced to stay home. I then included multiple activities that do not include social media or the need to constantly be in the loop with the outside world; it is okay to unplug for a bit. I wanted to show the song “Vienna” by Billy Joel because it sends a great message that there is no need to be so high-strung and anxious all the time… it is okay to “disappear for awhile.” Another small detail is that the screenshot of the phone is on airplane mode (top right corner), which keeps notifications from rolling in. I also wanted to. include the word “family” because in this time of isolation, one should only be around family, or those who are close enough to be family, ensuring comfort and security. I wanted to keep the colors of my board neutral and calm to invoke a tranquil mood. I also wanted to emphasize the journal present, as I had mentioned in my constraint map the importance of self-reflection. All of these activities, whether it be meditation, exercise, cooking or playing with animals, make it easy to be in touch with yourself which is something that is so important during such a scary and strange time in the world.
