Never in a million years would I think that I would be a semester away from college, have to take my classes online, and barely be allowed to leave my house. There is so much negativity in the world due to the coronavirus, however, the virus has brought some beauty back into the world as well. People can become so entranced in their work and daily routines so having it all come to a halt means that there has to be a major change in lifestyle to accommodate. Part of my new routine is having breakfast with my mom while we watch NBC news. One of our favorite sections is the Today Show with Hoda and Savannah. One of the segments they have been implementing is showing the positive ways people are coping with the change. Whether it’s common TikTok dances that families are doing together or musicians streaming free concerts, it shows that people are trying to make the best out of the situation.
An example of the world coming together after a tragedy is the 2010 Haiti earthquake. This event took a devastating toll on the Haitian community. However, governments and nonprofits all across the globe came together to help support Haiti in their time of need. This event didn’t impact the entire world, however, it did bring countries together in a time of need.
Even though it does suck to stay inside all day with minimal activities to do, there is a beauty in it as well. I have become a lot closer with my family now since we spend 24 hours together. In addition, thanks to the internet we are able to connect with peers or check in on celebrities which helps bring the world together.
